WHO WE ARE
Two decades of war in Afghanistan, including a decade Soviet occupation and ensuing civil strife, left Afghanistan impoverished and mired in an extended humanitarian crisis. Government infrastructure, including the ability to deliver to most basic health, education, and other social services collapsed. Severe restriction by Taliban harsh regime and sanctions, including restriction on women working outside the home, added to the impact of poverty, for the many households who are locking able-bodied abut male. In addition to this, a devastating regional drought further weakened the main representing industry of Afghan’s economy, where it caused in drying up wells, irrigation sources, parching agricultural lands, killing of livestock, collapsing rural and regional economy, and eventually exhausting the coping mechanisms of many ordinary Afghan, forcing them to leave their homes and search for food and water. Since, many international relief agencies have long been working and active in providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. Fortunately, following the interim period of Afghan government, the humanitarian assistance increased and reconstruction and short to medium and longer term development processes begun. Resulting, hundreds of thousands of refugees from neighboring countries and internally displaced families have returned to their homes to assist in the rebuilding and developing process with assistance from national and international assisting agencies, still due to heavy destruction and complex of such above stated undesired circumstances, the Afghan people need for external assistance. “Falah Afghanistan Welfare and Development Org (FAWDO)” aims to broadly benefit the needy people from their knowledge and experience through seeking various to reduce poverty and promote self-reliance, social justice and protection, stability and ultimately bring prosperity for Afghan people specially for Afghan women throughout the country.


FAWDO BACKGROUND
Falah Afghanistan Welfare and Development Organization (FAWDO) is a national nongovernmental not-for profit organization, established on 2015 in Afghanistan and registered, with Afghanistan Ministry of Economy(MoEc)registerNo#3640.
The core of our organizational philosophy, at FAWDO, is to provide humanitarian support, to the vulnerable communities of Afghanistan, based on the principles of UDHR and the sociocultural values of our country and to provide innovative, socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable human development solutions through research, dialogue, networking, partnerships, and solutions exchange. FAWDO is an indigenous organization that seeks to invest resources, efforts, time and energies in interventions responsive to the local needs, backed by evidence from the ground collected through close consultations with the local communities, formal and informal institutions. We seek opportunities to develop programs and projects and provide services to contribute to communities ‘relief, rehabilitation, and development. We believe that without the proactive and enterprising role of women in the development process, the development narrative in Afghanistan would be a farce.
